Isolation
Learning online from home alone is not fun. Not attending classroom and interacting with friends and peers, students will feel isolated and not motivated to learn. This issue leads to more off task students and less engaging in class activities. Thus, the quality of education affected because of this problem. Isolation can also affect instructional strategies that we work on. If we aren't aware of this issue, a lot of class activities will disappear like team work, class discussion, class activities, face to face interaction and communication which also affects the students engagement in class and learning quality.
Well, this is a strong opinion and it is well supported especially the face to face interactions and making new friends and social relations! but I guess you can try more online tools that facilitates the team works and the sharing of ideas between students.
ReplyDeleteI think that your opinion is true, also in learning online the students still sit all the time, and this thing make them bored.
ReplyDeleteTrue that this is a big issue we are facing nowadays with online teaching. But we can still think of good solutions to avoid the isolation of students: we can work "online" on the mentioned skills (team work, class discussions, face to face interaction and communication..), using technologies such as breakout rooms9on Zoom) to make the students work as teams, make them present ideas and discuss topics online through well organized sessions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion, because communication and social skills are best learned with social interactions, and during online classes students can`t interact as if in the class at school.
ReplyDeleteHuman beings are social creatures. Our connection to others enables us to survive and thrive. As Teachers we are accountable to help our lonely children, parents, neighbors, and even strangers in the same way we would treat ourselves. Treating loneliness is our collective responsibility.
